Oregon Grape, California Barberry, Mahonia, Rocky Mountain Grape, Trailing Mohonia, Mountain Grape, Wild Oregon Grape, Holly-leaved Barberty.

Rhizomes [underground stems] and roots.

Whenever characteristic dots like puffs of cotton occur in the iris of the eye, called a “lymphatic rosary”, Oregon Grape is recommended. Similar in action to Barberry, both plants contain an unusual, yellow, bitter principle called Berberine. This gives Oregon Grape its great detergent, antibiotic strength in cleaning the lymphatics and clearing up secondary syphilis [that is, those problems after the primary chancre or sore, wherever swollen glands, throat and pelvic area are concerned].

Changes in appetite as with Barberry quite often occur in the body and a person reaches out for unusual and different foods than those of the normal junk food diet. An intense desire for a salad instead of a cigarette is not uncommon. Oregon Grape is especially kind to the polluted blood stream and cleans it as well as cleaning the reproductive organs. Especially uplifting is the willingness of Oregon Grape to attack chronic illness. Oregon Grape is one of the heavyweights to tackle serious problems of the liver, lymphatics, joints, female and male reproductive systems and general conditions of ill health.
