I’ll tell you what the spiritual root is behind diabetes type 1: extreme rejection and self-hatred with guilt. In the many cases we have ministered to, we have found direct rejection by a father and sometimes a husband or a man. We are not just talking about a bit of rejection, but bad words like, “You ain’t no good,” “You ain’t never going to amount to a hill o’ beans,” and then some choice language to go along with it.
We have had tremendous success in healing diabetes. In order for healing to happen, the person must undergo an absolute change, allowing them to receive the love of God. Diabetes type 1 can be inherited because an unloving spirit can be inherited, and a broken spirit [heart] is also implicated.
Fear can be inherited. Allergies can be inherited. Many things we deal with can either develop in our lifetime or we can inherit them from our family tree. So when I see this happening in a child, I can go back to the father and mother, grandfather and grandmother, on both sides, and I’ll find some abuse. I’ll find some victimization. I’ll find rejection. I’ll find someone not being nurtured somewhere. This can be inherited not only from a genetic standpoint but also from a spiritually inherited standpoint. This is what I would be looking at in that case.
The Bible says that in Ezekiel, children do not have to die for their father’s sins, but in Exodus 20:5 it says that the curse that is the result of sin shall be passed on to the third generation.
… he shall not die for the iniquity of his father; he shall surely live. Ezekiel 18:17
Thou shall not bow down thyself to them, for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. Exodus 20:5
