Where I truly belong

Life is designed for us to connect mutually with people to build community and fulfill our sense of belonging. We all are to develop into our best selves and achieve our purpose. That usually happens by each of us having relationships with, at least, some people who aren’t usually like us.

These individuals are a life source for you until you can go forth on your own. Sometimes, these people are called midwives, who are designed to spiritually push you from one level to the next.

But what happens when what you just read above doesn’t happen? What happens when there’s no one there for you – or was there for you as a child – or an adult – or in church – or the work environment – or the family unit? The term is called an orphan spirit.

A person can be an orphan with both parents, meaning the person has no sense of community, connectivity, or belonging. There are families and spouses, but the members are not connected.

This orphan spirit causes us to believe we are disqualified from finding mutually beneficial relationships. Once you agree with this orphan spirit [even if your agreement is made subconsciously], there’s usually intense loneliness in your life – and eventually, if not repeatedly, you end up aborting relationships, opportunities, advancements, etc.

Paul understood the pain that goes along with agreeing with the orphan spirit. Even he had to heal from this rejection. A common behavior among those who agree with the orphan spirit is the intense loneliness we shroud ourselves in. We are designed for fellowship, friendship, and laughter. It may not be many people, but certain there are some people God has for you.

II Timothy 4: 9-18 tells of when Timothy was a comfort to Paul. Did you see the rundown list of broken relationships and rejection in Paul’s life? Demas deserted Paul. Crescens left Paul and went to Galatia. Alexander rejected Paul. The only one who stood with Paul was the Lord. Paul needed comfort, so he intentionally told Timothy who to bring with him to build himself back up.

There’s a term often used called church hurt. Every ministry has a purpose and a profile. You know how you’ll read a person’s profile; every ministry has a profile and its characteristics. Sometimes, we join ministries that don’t have our DNA.

Because your kingdom assignment is different – frustration sets in after that respective ministry rejects you. Why? You’re pitching to people who don’t have your spiritual DNA. Yes, as are you, they are part of the kingdom, but you’re not to be aligned with them.

Respectfully, we need someone to suckle us as we develop so we can thrive. Discipline is when people who are assigned to develop you structure the relationship to pull the best out of you. This starts the maturation process for you.

From a healing & deliverance perspective, we know the kingdom of satan prefers to wound us as young as possible – if possible, in the womb. When abandonment is in the initial stages of a person’s development and not dealt with, the orphan spirit will enter most likely.

The result is an inability to trust people and God. There’s a fear of rejection, suspicion, and codependency. For example, you know a particular relationship will take you nowhere—you know you’re being used, but you don’t have the strength to leave.

This ushers in maladaptive behaviors—you go from one friendship to another because you cannot believe someone loves you for just who you are. In the natural, you just cannot shake the orphan spirit.

Other symptoms of an orphan spirit are going from church to church and continuously experiencing rejection. When a person doesn’t bond properly, there is a wiring in their emotions that’s off. The level of trust needed to develop relationships is not there, i.e., I trust you, but I just don’t trust you with me.

Many people are uncomfortable with building and thriving in a community where people genuinely love them. You know some things about them but have yet to understand them. Love requires that you become vulnerable, which is why love is so foreign to us, even in places of worship.

Does this sound familiar in any of your relationships? People who are missing in action emotionally or physically could be the orphan spirit, given that they have short-circuited their clipped emotional bandwidth.

Have you ever been with people who just shut down? You’re in conversation with people, and you’re making a point, which the person filters as an attack. Their response is to defend, attack back, or just emotionally shut down.

We know that Yeshua has an answer for everything at The Cross. The answer to the orphan spirit is God’s spirit of adoption. – Dr. Cindy Trimm

Verbal ministry | God, will you heal the spirit of the orphan with me?  I choose not to have to deal with this orphan spirit another day in my life. I confess that I’ve agreed with this stronghold, and I no longer agree with it. I cancel the rights I’ve given for this orphan spirit to wreak havoc in my life. Through the blood of Yeshua, I choose to forgive myself for participating in the orphan spirit. And now, Father, I am speaking the names of every person I need to forgive who has hurt me and whom I have hurt from this orphan spirit. Lord, I receive Your forgiveness, and now I choose to receive my generational blessing of being adopted by You, Yeshua. I accept you’re adopting me, and all the benefits I’m now entitled to include learning how to be in a community and enjoy mutually beneficial relationships. By the authority you share with me, I command the orphan spirit to leave my life now and go where the Holy Spirit assigns it to go forever, in the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

What is broken, can be made whole.

What is dirty, can be made clean.

                    Resentment, can become forgiveness.

What is covered, cannot be healed.

                    Not all wounds, are visible.

But, The Cross, is always the place of exchange.
