She said I had back pain; I went to an orthopedist. Did surgery on me to remove the herniated disc. She became worse six weeks later. A second MRI was done by the same orthopedist, saying the disc moved more. I said I needed to have a laminectomy on L4 and L5. When I looked at her, I noticed her jawbone was inflamed.
I asked if she had had any dental work done. She said I had a root canal. The root canal failed. I had another redo of the root canal.
It failed. I had an implant put in.
Dr. David Minkoff, MD, blocked the nerve from that tooth and injected local anesthetic into her tooth. In 15 minutes, she stood up without the cane, bent, stretched, and exercised. She said the pain feels 90% gone. She went to have the implant removed by the oral surgeon. In a few weeks, the back pain was gone, except for the leftover surgical trauma.
Root canals are popular in dentistry because no one wants to lose a tooth, says Dr. Stuart Nunnally, DDS, MS. But it’s impossible to sterilize a root canal system, he shared. After the root canal, bacteria still reside in the tooth to flourish, and the body cannot deliver its own immune defenses to the tooth because the blood supply and nerve were severed in the root canal.
Dr. Joseph Mercola, founder of Mercola.com, said that root canals are a hidden source of toxicity. Most conventional dentists believe there’s no problem with it.

If your appendix dies, it has to be removed from the body. The same is true for a tooth. A tooth is a living structure. It has a blood supply. It has a nerve supply. When a tooth dies or becomes infected, a root canal is done. Even the best endodontist can clean the main canal but cannot get to the thousands of tubules running off the main canal in every different direction and angle.
Dr. Bradly Nelson, author of The Body Code, says these microtubules are big enough for bacteria to fit in but not much else. With six to eight miles of these microtubes in a single tooth, you can see why sterilizing that tooth is impossible.
Author and educator Dr. Gerald H. Smith, DDS, DNM, shared that 70 – 90% of all medical problems originate in the mouth. Embryologically, they develop from the same sympathetic and parasympathetic systems.
The blood supply in the mouth will take any toxins via the lymphatic system down to the thyroid, the thymus, the heart, and the rest of the body. So, there is a direct connection.
