Description
May be useful for infections of bladder, antibiotic for the entire urinary system, chronic gonorrhea, female white mucous discharge, astringent, tonic, kidney gravel
In the American Indian Pharmacopoeia [list of herbal medicines], we find Uva Ursi listed for what modern doctors would probably call cystitis [bladder infection] and nephritis [kidney infection]. Both conditions are very prevalent in women today and wreak havoc to prevent satisfactory sexual function. Uva Ursi is helpful for all of these and for chronic gonorrhea.
It is a powerful antibiotic to invaders of the uro-genital [urinary and reproductive systems]. To prevent stones in kidneys and aid Uva Ursi in performing its function, drink six to eight glasses of liquid per day [i.e., vegetable juice, herbal tea] or spring water with a small amount of apple cider vinegar to flavor [three teaspoons to three tablespoons per day]. This keeps the urinary tract alkaline, so stones do not form: Uva Ursi’s full antibiotic qualities can reign supreme.
Uva Ursi, Cornsilk and Gravel Root are among the kidney’s best friends. For this invaluable knowledge, we are deeply indebted to the American Indian.
